Weekend Warrior #33

Weekend Warrior #33

Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!  I am indeed going to stuff myself full to the brim of turkey dinner at a friend’s house today.  I am thankful that I don’t have to cook a turkey this weekend, as it is still warmer than seasonal temperatures here and I would absolutely melt.  I did see a turkey roasting pot at Walmart yesterday that looks like a crock pot for turkeys and claims to be self-basting while the turkey cooks.  If that works it might be something that goes on my wish list.  If you have tried this out, let me know if you like it.

I am cleaning this week.  I realized that I need to get into the cleaning again, before November.  I have been inspired to participate in NaNoWriMo after I decided not to do it this year.  I am going to write about cats and Susan, and the theme is superpowers, not superheroes like I thought, but I will make it work.  I have asked friends to send me cat stories for research.  I have an idea of what I want to write, and how, but was worried that I may not have enough information to write it all from the original idea.  I will use my own superpowers to win this year, I know it!

I have yet to complete the website setup.  I am working on it this month, but I now have more going on than I did before.  Since I started this blog in November last year, it seems fitting to make my move a year later.  I wanted to test my writing abilities before making this leap.  I think I can safely assume that it is not a passing fancy and that I am totally committed to keeping it going.  I am about to add my new third category this week, and I am really excited about it.  It is also going to have a few surprises, in terms of nerdy author geeky things.

Along with working on concepts and ideas for my NaNoWriMo novel, I have taken up the fantasy trilogy project.  I do not want to fall too far behind on it and am working on it every few days.  I am happy to say that a challenge I am in (are you surprised that I started another one? No?  I am in two right now, with one to catch up on when I finish these two) has fired up my writing for the book one of the trilogy.  I started a little bit of free writing and got some plot and character ideas going.  That was all I needed to pick it up again.  Who knew?  I didn’t.  I told you that I even surprise myself sometimes.

Weekends are supposed to be fun filled.  It was.  I also went to the Northside Market on Saturday, and am now as I write re-organizing furniture in my mind in the Master Bedroom/Craft Room.  I have made some progress, and want to finish it tomorrow so that I can move more craft supplies back out of the living room and into the neatly organized space in my Master Bedroom.  I hope to get this done because I am on a deadline.  I have to push through this week and work at work and clean at home so that I can really focus on the writing.  What do I need to finish before then?  After the cleaning is done, then I move on to website building, including an online store (exciting and terrifying at the same time) and moving the Blog to the website.  If I am going to get this all done before November, I need to be focused on progress and getting things finished.

By the end of the week, on Friday, I want to kick back and relax after a week of doing double duty.  Then I can implement the maintenance cleaning schedule and have a monthly and weekly chore list that keeps things from reversing into chaos again.  I know that chaos is a true sign of a creative mind and that it is not always a bad thing, but I am trying to change my ways for the better, and fight my way to be able to feel like I can spend more time creating and be happy about it.  Not feeling guilty and not doing anything because what I want to do can’t be done until I do what I need to do, which I don’t want to do, and then I fall into the nasty non-productive loop of living in chaos and getting nothing done at all.  I have a plan for tomorrow, and I have to set myself up to succeed before I give up on it all.  I know what I have to do, and it is up to me to do it.

What did you do this weekend?

Guest Blog Host Post #1: Tea or Coffee?

Guest Blog Host Post #1: Tea or Coffee?

mug-1504439_1920

When someone comes to visit me, I will offer them a cup of tea or coffee, as a host.  I chose this picture in particular because it has vibrant colours.

As a Blogger, you generally love to read and write.  A part of the craft is to continually learn and challenge yourself to become a better author.  In doing so, one often subscribes and follows numerous blogs within the community.

I have been fortunate enough to start on this path with a lot of help and guidance from my friends, and peers.  I have enrolled in free online workshops and found some that I think are worth saving up to participate in.  Through one of these challenges, I launched a free Guest Blogging invitation to the world.

While I haven’t been overwhelmed by people looking to share in this opportunity with me, a few people have approached me, and today I have the pleasure of sharing a story that another blogger wrote.  I do think as we are reading each other’s words and having online conversations about each other’s work, that we are well on the way to becoming friends.

I am a member of several different writing and blogging groups and communities online.  I am loving the support that I get from each one, and how they are all unique in their own ways.  I met my next Guest Blog Writer in one of these groups.

Syl DiNada was interested in Guest Blogging when I put out the invitation.  We started chatting, and Syl was more interested in sharing than hosting.  As it is an open invitation, I decided that I would see what came out of our discussions, and reading my new friend’s blog.

Let me tell you, the artwork that is prominently featured in Syl DiNada’s Blog is phenomenal.  I can visit just to look at the pictures.  Truly inspirational and magnificent.  Well worth checking out.  The writing, well, we definitely have different outlooks on life, and that is absolutely wonderful.  I love reading different things, and Syl puts a lot of thought behind the artwork, and consequently the writing for the blog.  I rather enjoy the visits, you should take a peek, and find something to read there.

Here is the Guest Blog share from Syl DiNada.

Sharing the Self

Syl 1Z: “Syl, I like your avatar but seriously, what do you look like? Why are you standing behind a mask and yet trying to convey true words?”

Y: “Z, I would just like to say we live in a world where we sometimes put too much importance on how others look. An Avatar can be a way of allowing a much larger audience to pay attention and really hear what is being said.

Personally, not for myself, as I honestly don’t care how someone looks, but I
care what is in their heart and how they convey that.”

Syl: Yes, Y has it pretty much. Although I really do make the majority of my
posts with just me in mind.

But really, at the time I signed up for FaceBook I did not own any pictures of
myself. I don’t use a phone either and had no digital camera. I just don’t
have much interest in personal pics, never have. (Yes, I know it’s hard to
believe in this day and age, but some of us have never taken a selfie.) So I
used this avatar pic of mine. And ofc…”There is More…”

Pictures of faces have a very particular effect on cognition. They instantly
convey an impression of someone. Pictures of faces are limited in what they
can convey, particularly when someone is outside of the typical cognition
pattern. I feel pretty confident that I am very much Not what a picture of my
face looks like.
I mean you will see a fairly regular face. But I think I can say without any ego
that I am not very regular at all. Not better or worse, just quite different. This
is something I know for sure from an objective standpoint.

Syl 2So any picture I put up of me will actually be *Inaccurate.* It won’t, and can’t, tell the whole story. Lol, I struggle to tell my story when I make an effort to do so.

For instance, a friend whom I chat with regularly, asked and made some specific comments about how it all started for me. And well, they completely
miss-assumed how it all began. So I had to explain. Lol, a few hundred thousand words, or half a dozen books later, I am still not done telling that story.

Haha, nothing for me is simple anymore, and that was just a straight-up
chronological story, telling about my early days as a philosopher, as a boy.
(Yes, I was a philosopher as a boy.) So really, I can’t put up a picture, it
would be a falsehood.

And besides, I am not sure why folks assume some other profile pic means hiding, That avatar pic actually says a lot, but that is a whole other post by
itself. I would say my posts reveal more about me than most pages I have
seen.

I am sharing my very essence. That is about as intimate as one can go. To
share what one’s favorite colour and food is, means nothing at all really. In
order to truly know someone, we need to know what matters to them, what
is important, what resonates with their Inner Being, with their Core.

It is knowing what they *Aspire* to. Not even ambitions really tell us about
someone, those are typically relatively superficial, and often artificial. But
what someone’s Heart and Soul truly *Aspires* to, that is *them.* Knowing
someone, one could say, is getting to know their Soul and Heart, not their
temporary and arbitrary likes and dislikes. We have to go past the surface
superficialities to really get to know someone.

Besides, I don’t feel what I Share for the most part “belongs” to me.
Concepts, thoughts, ideas, Perspectives and all the More I Share, belong to
everyone. In this way I feel I am Sharing what is Us. I truly make every effort
to live in Attunement to everything around me, to everyone and everything in
my life. I try with everything I have to live in Attunement with the World and
the Universe. Perhaps I need a picture of a community, a large community,
that would be more accurate. <3 <3
Syl 3***

And well, there is another reason also… I am way too handsome to post my
picture. I would get err….unwanted attention if I did. 😀 😀 😀
However, in amongst all the art in my posts, somewhere, there is a picture that does resemble me. <3

Thanks for letting me share your story from January, Syl DiNada.  I look forward to reading more of your writing, and further conversations.  If you are reading this and want to get in touch with me for Guest Blogging opportunities, here is the invitation.

You are cordially invited to start a discussion with Tish MacWebber about Guest Posting opportunities.2

Bling. Blog. Books.

Bling. Blog. Books.

I recently took part in a couple of challenges.  The Brand Story Challenge was the first one. The design I started this story with is the result of the week-long challenge.  But if you were not following me on Facebook, you missed a lot of the work that led up to this graphic.

There is a progression, with daily “homework” to complete the challenge and be entered in the contest for prizes.  If you were reading the daily prompts, then you will be very familiar with the daily public shares that I am copying into this story here.  Why am I doing that?  If you are wondering, it is to show the progress, and seeing them grouped together here will help understand the process and progress I accomplished by taking these challenges.

If you want to learn about how to Master Brand yourself, check out these links. For the Master Brand course, check out this website http://www.jenniferkem.com/.  She teaches about #masterbrand and #paidtobeyou.  If you look on Facebook, these hashtags will lead you to the right place.

I will start with the Brand Story Challenge.  This may seem like a long read today, but I feel it is the best way to share this information with all of you that are reading.  So grab a cup of coffee or tea and spend a little time with me as I share this journey.  The end goal is to become an entrepreneur with Bling. Blog. Books. and I will be happy if you stick with me through this adventure.  You can even participate in the Bling and Blog Freebies if you read to the end.

I found out about the Brand Story Challenge #BSC while scrolling through Facebook.  I do not click on all of the ads I see, but sometimes I check things out.  I am in 100 Coffees to enhance my networking skills with women like myself.  I am in #HappyWriting because the creator, Jessica Dionne Abouelela, has been there for my journey since almost the very beginning.  She helped me to change my blog from its former Newbie status to the one you see today.  To be honest, she rescued me and my website and gave me a new direction for it. I did most of the work, and she was instrumental in helping me figure out how to do that.  She had been encouraging me to do more research on my own Brand, and she also thought that the #BSC would be a good fit for me. I know you are reading, so thank you, Jessica.

Jessica’s current website is girlvscity, and she is going to be launching a Happy Writing project in October.  If you want to join an AMAZING writing community on Facebook, then I highly recommend Happy Writing the Facebook Group that I am in.  You can also check out Happy Writing Co, which is another Facebook group she has on the go.  Jessica has always taken the time to answer my questions and gives solid advice.

The next 5 entries will share the five days of #BSC public posts.

I am inspired by what happens when I apply all of my creative skills and imagination to my projects. The results speak for themselves, and when I complete a project that I conceptualized entirely myself, it literally amazes me how my brain comes up with ideas that work. My passion is being creative, and the more I believe in myself and push myself, the possibilities have no limits. I will think my way through everything that I do and find success while spreading joy through my work. If I apply my talents, each success inspires me to try more new things, and I get so excited when my brain is “on fire” and I am in the zone. When your passion reveals itself, there is no comparison to the feelings of accomplishment that you get from following it.

The world needs more of Tish MacWebber’s creativity in it. I help people spread it around, with my Blog, Bling, and Lyrics.

#brandstorychallenge #day1

The moment that I decided I would help people was when I decided that I would start with helping myself. I started my blog to share my lyrics, for collaboration with musicians. I realized that writing my blog is bigger than me just writing to practice for writing my books. People are reading, commenting, and liking what I am writing about. They are watching for my regular series stories and following them. What I write about is holding me accountable, and helping me grow in my personal journey through my life. My writing is helping me gain confidence to keep writing, and to write books like I dreamed of doing. I feel good about creating, and writing is a creative outlet for me. It is something that I enjoy doing. As an avid reader, I want to write a fantasy trilogy. By writing stories from my heart and mind, I can help people escape the real world one chapter at a time, and by achieving my dreams, maybe I will inspire someone else to stop procrastinating about making their dreams a reality, and act on those dreams to make them come true. #brandstorychallenge #day2

I’m looking for 5 people who feel like their true worth is being overlooked in their real life, and love to read books that help them escape their every day and inspire them to be someone that is worth taking the time to get to know who they really are on the inside. I am also looking for people that appreciate details, that know the little things matter and can make a big impact if they are displayed in the correct fashion. Are you one of those people?
#brandstorychallenge #day3

My business Superpower is applying Tish into everything I do. Whether it shows in my creativity and thinking, my stubbornness, imagination, finding solutions, embracing my feelings and pushing through them to the other side, facing every project with an open heart, my sense of humour or my geekiness, I give my all and get’er done. When I reach that time that my brain finds the solution to what I have been thinking about, I make decisions and act on them.
My creativity thought processes and quirkiness combined with asking a million and one questions to brainstorm and learn what I need to give’er leads me to creative Tish solutions and final products that I am proud to share with the world. My business superpower is me, and my secret weapon is that I am full of surprises.
#brandstorychallenge #day4

Tish of Tish’s Treasures wants YOU to know that when you want her to create a custom order for YOU that she will listen to what your needs are, and DESIGN unique jewellery for you or someone you love to wear.

Tish MacWebber wants YOU to know that she is the real deal. She is writing her first book, and practicing her writing skills while holding herself accountable in her blog at the same time. Her writing is reaching people through her blog in 50 different countries, and she cannot wait to share her fantasy trilogy with you all. Escape your world for a little while by reading what she is up to. There will be excerpts from her first book shared when it is closer to completion.

#brandsstorychallenge#day5

ARE YOU STILL AWAKE?  We are halfway through this epic long story.  This can be your intermission break if you need one.  Refill your coffee or tea cup, grab a snack, run to do whatever needs to be taken care of, but please do come back.  Keep reading, if you made it this far, there are things to do at the end!

In between the challenges, I held a Scavenger Hunt Contest to encourage people to look up my Tish’s Treasures Facebook Page, my Tish MacWebber Author Page, and of course, to check out my blog.  I made my first Facebook Live videos. I had a winner, and she now has a custom designed pair of earrings as her prize.

Scavenger Hunt Prize

These are the earrings I made as the prize for my Scavenger Hunt Contest.

The second Challenge was the Grow Your Tribe Challenge, #GYTC.  It took some of the work I did in #BSC and added to it while exploring different methods of growing your tribe.  Here is the summary of the daily prompts for that challenge.

The solutions I provide are unique because I pour myself into everything I create, and it is my passion. As an artist; that translates to being a creator of unique designs that come from my heart and mind. As an author; my writing speaks to people through my blog already. My fantasy books will share stories that are written so well that you get sucked in, don’t want to put the book down, and the readers feel invested in the stories and the characters in my books. I want to help the readers escape their lives by reading their way into my imagination. Not everyone that reads my blog is a writer, but 6 people that I know in real life have decided to look into writing their own blogs and asked me for advice. If I can do this, you can chase your dreams and make them a reality too. You just have to decide that you are going to make them happen, and start learning and doing.
#growyourtribechallenge #day1

My Tribe is amazing because they may not all have been there since day 1, and they may not all know me in person, but they are open enough to learn, laugh, cry, and be surprised by me. They are learning what I am all about and at the same time, they are discovering how my creativity infuses positivity and it is my passion. Oh, and that it is contagious. People in my Tribe check things out, ask questions, and learn to believe in themselves, right beside me. I want to help my readers escape their lives by reading their way into my imagination. They will discover their passion, explore their own imagination, ask a million and one questions and add a little more Tish in their lives. They need it, and they don’t even know it yet unless they are already in!

Please note: There was a new “Tish-ism” created during this day’s challenge, so keep an eye out on the blog, it’s going to be a busy week there!
#growyourtribechallenge #day2

Tish’s Treasure Seekers Birthday Bling Club Q&A

If you answer 6 questions, you can be entered too!  I promised there were good reasons to read to the end!

Since I have completed the second challenge, I have launched the above freebies.  I have also renamed and updated the Tish’s Treasures Facebook group.  It is now Tish’s Treasure Seekers and is linked to the business page.

What is coming in the future?  More fun. More interactions. More writing. More Bling. More contests.  Growth doesn’t happen by itself, or overnight. So more work. I will be moving this Blog to an umbrella website for Tish MacWebber.  Things are going to become even more exciting than they already are.  I hope that you all join me.  It’s going to be something you don’t want to miss.

Could I have made this a shorter read? Yes.  I didn’t because I wanted you all to see the bigger picture with me.  Congratulations for reading all the way to the end.  I have to say, the bigger picture is panoramic!  I love the view!

Tish-bits

Tish-bits

I have been working on myself in more areas than one, all at once.  I am learning, growing and changing as a result of the work I am doing.  The work I am doing online involves some challenges.  I am thinking (more than usual) and I am inspired!  I am working to change my life by turning my dreams into a reality.

I first took part in the #brandstorychallenge  last week.  It is over now, and people actually participate in it more than once.  It is that good, and the information is different each time you take it! The basics may be similar each time, as it has a solid foundation, but you are guaranteed to learn something new each time you take this free challenge. My Day 6 Bonus Challenge homework was a design I made in Canva.  That program was introduced to me earlier in my blogging journey.  Along with Pixabay, where I get some of the most wonderful pictures that are free to use for my blog like the flower pictures shared in this story, are two of the many tips I have learned from asking a million and one questions.  Which I do.  All the time.

I am proud of completing the first challenge, and this was the “Culture Credo” bonus that I designed:
Culture Credo green website 3

I am really excited about how that turned out.  I LOVE it when my brain works and comes up with the most creative and wonderful ideas.  That is why I am here, still blogging.  It is something I have a lot of fun with, and something that I really enjoy!

This week started a new challenge.  It is all about the audience.  It is the #growyourtribechallenge.  The same person that taught the first one is teaching this one, too.  I have just completed the Day 2 homework.  I like the things I am learning.  It is making me think, and because I am writing my answers in a journal, and sharing it all every day, privately in the #PaidToBeYouPosse group (where you can find the challenges if you are interested) on Facebook and sharing the summaries publicly to win prizes.

After completing the #BrandStoryChallenge, I was in the draw for a prize, but I did not win.  I feel like I won something that will help me move forward, though.  I asked a list of questions, and they were almost all answered in the closing video for the challenge last week.  I used my talent of rapid fire think and ask questions to my advantage.  Jennifer Kem graciously took almost an hour of the 90-minute video to address almost all of my questions.  I am certain that other people were maybe too shy to ask, and I certainly didn’t think she would pick more than one or two at most.  As she runs a four-month long course that is not free like the challenges I am participating in, I didn’t get EVERY SINGLE QUESTION answered, but that is SMART.  It makes me want to start saving up for the next time the course will be offered, to get more training to become a successful entrepreneur.  I have already started business ideas before this, so I do consider myself an entrepreneur.  Becoming a success story, well that is what I am developing as I progress on this journey.  So again, Jennifer, thanks for the answers, I feel like I had a coaching session, and the advice was priceless!  If you are interested in her course, check out her website http://www.jenniferkem.com/.  She teaches about #masterbrand and #paidtobeyou.

Now, to address the two remaining elements in this Tish-ism.  What brought this one to life?  I was journaling away at my homework from Day 2.  I was on the final question, and it was in my mind.  The people in my tribe that read this blog are open to the “Tish-bits” of information that I share here.  I was inspired in the middle of answering that question, and I just put up a bracket and wrote it and used some other terms in the answer too.  I Tishsplained “Tish-isms”, “Tishsplaining”, and my new term “Tish-bits” right in the body of my answer.  If you have been following my blog, then you will know that my brain never stops, and it felt right to me to just stick it all in my answer.  I made it all relatable like I do.

The last mysterious element in the latest Tish-ism is what kind of flower that picture at the top of the story was.  I will solve the mystery here if you didn’t guess it already.

sunflower-1772005_1920

It was a close-up of a Sunflower, my second favourite flower, after the Wild Cape Breton Rose.

Weekend Warrior #33

Weekend Warrior #26

I don’t have any “plans” this weekend.  I am going to do that Bouncing of the House I didn’t do last weekend.  I will catch up with a friend and maybe call another friend.  This weekend I am going to be alone while the hubby is at work.  Sometimes that is just what I need.

I will crank the tunes and get some things done tomorrow.  I am happy to say he did some work around here this week, so it isn’t a total disaster waiting for me to have to do everything.  It helps to have a partner with the chores, even if we work better in tandem than together on some projects.

I have to say it, and I don’t want to.  I have had another generation of ants in the kitchen.  I also want to put it out there that mint plants are needy divas.  They are happy or parched or dying or perky.  There is no happy medium, only the hour after they are watered, it seems.  I am struggling to keep them alive, and losing the battle with one already.  I need them to live to chase the bugs away.  I have seen spiders and ants, so maybe it is not a reliable theory.  It was worth a shot, though.

The problem with having a completely free weekend happens when I don’t have a reason to get the chores done.  It is much more fun to procrastinate on the computer and binge watch TV all day.  I know I am crawling out of bed in the morning to get the car.  I have not decided if that will happen Sunday, or not.  If I stay home, I don’t spend money.  That is a good rule of thumb for me.  I do have errands and so I need the car tomorrow.  I don’t like being home without it if I don’t need to be.  What if I need something?  I need the car to go get it.

Then a whole other list of things happens, I blink, and the day is gone and I have nothing to show for it.  So I think this weekend I will make a list.  Sometimes that is the only way for me to stay on track.

I have one day of the Brand Story Challenge I have participated in all week left.  It is over on Saturday, and I am looking forward to trying to put it all together.  There are prizes, and I feel like I am putting myself out there, much like I do here, and just going for it.  It may not seem like I am working hard at this if you don’t know me, but there are parts that are shared publicly and parts that are just for you and the members of the challenge.  So I have been sharing it all in the closed group.  I feel like if I put it all out there, maybe I have a chance to win something.  I can work hard, and hope.  I am trying to get below my outer layer and see what I am hiding inside that can help propel me forward.  It is making me think about things differently, and that is OK.

With Sunday morning there came a lack of sleep, due to humidity and some inspirations!  I have just filmed my first ever Facebook live video and created a scavenger hunt for the first contest I have ever launched for Tish’s Treasures.  I am really hoping it steps up my entrepreneurial game, and I am already planning my next contest!

I did get the car Sunday too.  I spent too much time trying to get in a nap, so this is causing my posting here to be late.  I have had so much to do, but my body needed to rest up before the dreaded Monday appeared.  (Oh no! It’s here!)

There was a bonus round for the Brand Story Challenge.  It is not quite ready, but will be shared all over the place really soon!

I am going to leave a link for my first Facebook Live Contest video HERE!  It is open to anyone that completes the requirements.  If you enter, best of luck to you!  There is a prize!
