Strolling down the garden path

from the cliff top to the shore

She wanders in the freshly mowed grass

Feels it soft between her toes

Summer is just around the bend

She holds her hand out to her friend

Come with me in the sunshine, and we’ll see where the day goes

You see the little pink rosebuds

Lining the trail and you just know

There is no other one like this

The wild Cape Breton Rose

Spend some time with me my friend

We’ll chase the tide out on the sand

The Breeze brings memories and her sweet perfume to your nose

You just can’t help yourself from falling

For the wild Cape Breton Rose

A storm rolls in over the ocean

The angry waves crash on the shore

You’ve had a fight full of emotion

Her untamed fury bloomed between you both

When she trusts you she will bring you near

But watch her thorns, they are sharp my dear

Her passion draws you in and as the bleeding starts to slow

You see the perfectly pink petals circling

The beauty’s heart of gold

There is no other one like this

The wild Cape Breton rose

As the flashes of anger start to fizzle in the pouring rain

The rumble of the thunder drowns the overflowing rage

A spark of love unfurls to life beside the growing pile of wet clothes

Just like that the tempest passes

Again the tides resume the ebbs and flows

There is no other one like this

The wild Cape Breton Rose

Come sit with her up on the cliff

To watch the sunset over the water

So close the edge that you might drift

Away with the tide

They hold on to each other close

Times like this, they mean the most

As the darkness falls they lay down side by side and count the stars in the sky

One by one the pale pink petals float

Gracefully to the grass to decompose

There is no other one like this

The wild Cape Breton rose

Spend some time with me my friend

We’ll chase the tide out on the sand

The Breeze brings memories and her sweet perfume to your nose

You just can’t help yourself from falling

For the wild Cape Breton Rose
