I didn’t see any smoke; but there was a fire
It kindled in our hearts; burning with desire
We were so lucky to find each other
We were so lucky to find each other
It started up with a cup of coffee
I said I like chocolate; you said you like toffee
And after dessert, we went for a walk
Should have said goodnight; but we just talked and talked
We were so lucky to find each other
We were so lucky to find each other
We fueled the sparks with some shots of whiskey
And after that you asked me if you could kiss me
It started off tender; a little sweet
But the passion grew in response to the heat
We were so lucky to find each other
We were so lucky to find each other
We moved to the couch, and we kissed so much more
Before I even noticed, our clothes were on the floor
We were so lucky to find each other
We were so lucky to find each other
It was like flipping a switch, your passion turned into rage
As you closed your hands on my neck, I was trapped in a cage
I fought for a minute, then I held my breath
I was so lucky to still be alive
I was so lucky to still be alive
You got in the shower, I put my clothes on
By the time you were clean, I was long gone
Called 911 on my phone from the street
Told the cops your address, and where we could meet
I was so lucky to still be alive
They said I was so lucky to still be alive
How could something so good be so terribly wrong
How could I be so stupid, why did I go along
And now you are in jail as I start to recover
From the attack of my psycho one time lover
I was so lucky to still be alive
I was so lucky to still be alive
Sometimes I get scared thinking about that night
What if I had fought harder, with all of my might
Would I still be alive, would I still be around
Or would I be in a shallow grave, missing, to be found
I know I am so lucky to still be alive
Yeah
I know I am so lucky to still be alive
