Weekend Warrior #26

Weekend Warrior #26

I don’t have any “plans” this weekend.  I am going to do that Bouncing of the House I didn’t do last weekend.  I will catch up with a friend and maybe call another friend.  This weekend I am going to be alone while the hubby is at work.  Sometimes that is just what I need.

I will crank the tunes and get some things done tomorrow.  I am happy to say he did some work around here this week, so it isn’t a total disaster waiting for me to have to do everything.  It helps to have a partner with the chores, even if we work better in tandem than together on some projects.

I have to say it, and I don’t want to.  I have had another generation of ants in the kitchen.  I also want to put it out there that mint plants are needy divas.  They are happy or parched or dying or perky.  There is no happy medium, only the hour after they are watered, it seems.  I am struggling to keep them alive, and losing the battle with one already.  I need them to live to chase the bugs away.  I have seen spiders and ants, so maybe it is not a reliable theory.  It was worth a shot, though.

The problem with having a completely free weekend happens when I don’t have a reason to get the chores done.  It is much more fun to procrastinate on the computer and binge watch TV all day.  I know I am crawling out of bed in the morning to get the car.  I have not decided if that will happen Sunday, or not.  If I stay home, I don’t spend money.  That is a good rule of thumb for me.  I do have errands and so I need the car tomorrow.  I don’t like being home without it if I don’t need to be.  What if I need something?  I need the car to go get it.

Then a whole other list of things happens, I blink, and the day is gone and I have nothing to show for it.  So I think this weekend I will make a list.  Sometimes that is the only way for me to stay on track.

I have one day of the Brand Story Challenge I have participated in all week left.  It is over on Saturday, and I am looking forward to trying to put it all together.  There are prizes, and I feel like I am putting myself out there, much like I do here, and just going for it.  It may not seem like I am working hard at this if you don’t know me, but there are parts that are shared publicly and parts that are just for you and the members of the challenge.  So I have been sharing it all in the closed group.  I feel like if I put it all out there, maybe I have a chance to win something.  I can work hard, and hope.  I am trying to get below my outer layer and see what I am hiding inside that can help propel me forward.  It is making me think about things differently, and that is OK.

With Sunday morning there came a lack of sleep, due to humidity and some inspirations!  I have just filmed my first ever Facebook live video and created a scavenger hunt for the first contest I have ever launched for Tish’s Treasures.  I am really hoping it steps up my entrepreneurial game, and I am already planning my next contest!

I did get the car Sunday too.  I spent too much time trying to get in a nap, so this is causing my posting here to be late.  I have had so much to do, but my body needed to rest up before the dreaded Monday appeared.  (Oh no! It’s here!)

There was a bonus round for the Brand Story Challenge.  It is not quite ready, but will be shared all over the place really soon!

I am going to leave a link for my first Facebook Live Contest video HERE!  It is open to anyone that completes the requirements.  If you enter, best of luck to you!  There is a prize!

I am feeling drained after this weekend.  Humidity is not nice when you are unable to sleep through it.  I got a lot done, though, so I am calling it a draw…today was not as productive as it could have been.  How was your weekend?

Well, look at that.  I made it to another weekend.  It is unplanned, as of yet, and that could be dangerous.  In terms of making the most of my weekend off, that is.

Looking around, I can get overwhelmed at the amount of work I still need to do.  But just looking at it won’t fix that.

So I have to make a list.  It will be for both days, as I never seem to finish the list I make in one day, so I’ll be realistic.  Then  I will pick some small things to get me going.  It is motivating to cross things off of the list.

eggs and avs

Eggs and Avs (THM) A nice filling breakfast. I love poached eggs, but you can fry them if you prefer. I love this quick, healthy breakfast on weekends.

We do have to run errands today.  So I’ve filled the Overthinkin and Coffee Drinkin mug to sip my coffee while I Brunch and write.  Tomorrow I’ll need to prep cook, and my husband doesn’t know it yet, but there is a package of bacon for tomorrow’s breakfast.  He wouldn’t eat this with me, but he loves bacon and eggs.

I am still struggling with the cleaning challenge.  I feel like this weekend might be when I get back on track.  I set the goals at the start of the year, and I intend to keep them.  But where to begin?  I am overwhelmed by a number of things to do on an exponentially growing to do list and underwhelmed with the energy to attack it.  How do I fight my way to doing instead of dreading?

The lists and music are the answer.  Even if I take an hour to make the list, it is a start.  Do I write down everything, share it with my husband, and tackle it with him?  Will we bicker if we tackle the same thing together?  Sometimes that happens.  If we are both working in the kitchen, there is not a lot of space when we are doing the dishes.  My kitchen is deceptive.  It looks spacious but has very little cupboard space.  I have had to be creative in what I have and where I store things.  I have a bookcase, an open pantry, and a large standing shelf with a door on it.

My Open Shelf Pantry

This is the final result of the only thing I really accomplished in the first year I joined the Cleaning Challenge. I need to tidy it up this year, but for the most part, it is still in good shape, and just needs a good dusting job. It is my Open Shelf Pantry.

We have often talked about how to get more efficient storage in the kitchen.  We are planning to get some furniture “someday” at Ikea.  It will be mostly to set up the living room, but the kitchen will get a boost too.  It will happen, it is hard sometimes to make do and stay motivated, but it is what it is.

This afternoon we went to get our taxes finished up.  Done for another year.  We then made an afternoon trip of going to two local SPCA animal shelters.  We are starting to think about getting our first dog, and saw a lot of cats too.  We will get another cat too, someday, but we needed a break, after having been a cat only home for so long.

This evening we went to visit some friends.  It was nice to get out and socialize as a couple with another couple that we are friends with, but haven’t been to visit in quite some time.

Another productive day outside of the house.  I will have to work really hard tomorrow to catch up.  It can be done.  It will be done.  It has to.  I hope the energy is still with me tomorrow.  The house needs a bouncing!

Weekend Warrior

This picture really made me laugh.  It will be the picture for my new Blogging series, called Weekend Warrior.  I am working on cleaning and organizing my home so that when I am ready to dive into writing my books, I will not have to worry about what is not getting done or what should be getting done.

I just had breakfast.  I like to sleep in on the weekends.  This means if I am motivated and working on my house and chore list, it continues well after dark.  I am a night owl, but find the weekday schedule really helps me to stay on track with my health.  So I am a part of the rat race, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, working woman.  I do have a day job.  The bills need to be paid.  SO on a weekend when there are no plans outside of the house, I sleep in and go a little off schedule.  I enjoy that.  When we get a dog later this year, I hope it likes to sleep in on the weekends too.  I realize that there will be necessary walks and wake ups with a dog to take them outside, but that doesn’t mean a nap won’t follow those little adventures.

I am breaking in my new coffee mug.  It says, “Overthinkin’ and coffee drinkin’ ” it suits my life and my logo.  It is a good size, and I purchased it last weekend on a whim.  I saw it on facebook and had to have it.  It is so “ME!”  I will drink coffee from it while I write.  It holds 16 oz of coffee, and that is a good start for my weekend coffee.

Plans for the weekend are developing, on the social side of things.  Which means I have to make the most of the afternoon as I may be out this evening.  Combining the things I don’t want to do with things I do want to do works out, somewhat.  It can be counterproductive, too, though.  If I am really on a roll, and getting things done on my list, then it is hard to find the motivation to keep going if I have to stop.  Or sometimes I don’t start at all because I know I won’t be able to finish.

Sometimes I get a lot done, and sometimes I overthink the projects and that takes up all of my time.  Music is a huge motivator for me.  If the tunes are cranked, I find it hard to sit still.  I like background music or TV when I am surfing the internet, or working on stationary projects, but to get me up and moving, the tunes have to be cranked.

Weekend Warrior.  That is what I feel like when I am having a productive weekend.  It doesn’t mean I am changing the world, or working on building or renovating anything.  It does mean I am making progress on my lists, getting up and moving around, staying motivated, and having a little fun.  Making the most of my free time, and getting that much closer to the goal of writing my books.  Singing and dancing my way through the weekend is how I put on my game face.  When I am Bouncing the House, I am getting the lists done, and that is exactly what weekends are for.
