Another weekend is coming to a close. It was a busy one! Weekend Warrior started on Friday at about 4 pm. A friend needed to take me up on an offer to visit earlier in the week. She is recovering from surgery, and wanted to see some friends. So I rushed home, got the hubby to help me cut my large spaghetti squash, and I got my things together while it cooked. Picked up our other friend, a few things to complete supper, and off we went.
We made spaghetti squash mixed with tomato and veggie sauce, with multigrain garlic bread and played a game. We tried to watch a movie. It didn’t work out. The game was fun. It was a good way to wind down after the work week.
Saturday was slow to start. We went to see Ready Player One. It was great, but I don’t think the 3-D was necessary. We saw it in 3-D, and in my opinion, it wasn’t as good as I expected, but only in that way. The story was good, the pace was great, and all the Easter Eggs in the movie were on point, it is probably too hard to get them all the first time through. The other disappointment was that there was NO EASTER EGG at the end! With a movie that was full of them, start to finish, there should have been an extra scene at the end. It just felt wrong, and another young fan was feeling the same way. My husband was shaking his head as I was commenting about this, and then I found a kindred spirit that felt the same way. It was kind of hilarious.
I am reading a book to review. I am reading it before it is published. I spent most of the last week doing just that, and I am going to review it on my Blog on the Treasure Seeker Tuesday this week. I will share more about it then.
I also have a small issue with amazon.ca. I am trying to support my peers by downloading and reviewing their books after reading them. However, because I haven’t purchased anything from amazon.ca, I am not allowed to review the books I read there. I am not amused. I have found another way to help, but it isn’t the way that the authors would like.
Sunday I spent a bit of time working on my website. I cooked Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole. I have 4 meals ready to eat now. I like prep cooking. It helps me to get out the door faster in the mornings. I highly recommend it.
I totally won this weekend. What did you do? Comments are welcome below.

Here we are at the end of another weekend. I have been non-stop busy since the last edition, and am hoping things slow down (just a little) for the next few days. I write this because I am feeling a little drained of energy.
Friday night was so long ago, I honestly don’t even remember what I did. That is how busy the week was. Saturday I slept in a little and got up to volunteer for the Boston Terrier Rescue Canada group. BTRC is run completely by volunteers, and they do whatever they can to raise funds. I was working in a canteen at a local cat show. The SPCA was hosting it and asked us if we would like to help out to split the profits between the two organizations. The message went out late in the week, and I picked my time slot, and off I went.
Let me say, first of all, that I am really proud of myself for looking at all of that food, and ONLY buying an apple. I paid for it and enjoyed it. I ended up with pizza to take home, and it was supper. It has been a while since I had to stand on my feet for a few hours. Although I was glad to have a chair for a couple of necessary but short breaks, I managed OK. I do have nerve pain in one leg and I have finally figured out that my hip flexors are the root cause. If it comes down to it, I tough it out, but I can be in a lot of pain while I am doing so.

What does a person do when they go inside the Cat Show after the volunteering is done? Well, if you are me, you look at EVERY cat you can see, and you buy new cute little socks with cats all over them. I wanted the cute change purse too, but I am on a budget and that means I can’t always get everything I want.
My new kitty cat socks!
I bought something practical. I can always use more cute socks.
Today is Sunday. I slept in later today, I needed it. We had been invited to a friend’s house to play board games. It was set as a potluck. I decided to make His & Hers Lasagna. His lasagna is traditional. Mine is THM Lazy Lasagna. No noodles and yes it has spinach.

He helped me with the prep and assembly. I made some guacamole dip and we brought Nacho Scoops for that. It was good. The best part is that there are leftovers of the lasagnas and the guacamole. So I have lunches prepped for the week right now!
We played Cards Against Humanity first. After supper, we played Ticket To Ride, Europe. It was a lot of fun, once we all knew what we were doing. The board game looked like this when it was all over.

It was a busy weekend. I didn’t get a lot of cleaning done, but we got the prep cooking started for the week. That’s a wrap for this weekend! What did you do?

Here we are. Another weekend is over. If you are reading the other stories I post, you may know that I did a little shopping last week. I have tried and tried to get myself into that kitchen. This week, I chose another fight. I decided to fight some inner demons.
I have been working hard on this blog. I am pouring my heart and soul into it, and it is having positive effects in my life. This weekend, I took a much needed break from my routine.
I have given myself a deadline for starting to work on my book. I hope to be done with my Spring Cleaning on or before July 1st. This way I have given myself a full 6 months for each project I am working on this year. If I finish early, bonus. I have no doubts that when I sit down to write, it will happen. I am doing well with the consistency of the blog.
A discussion online made me stop and think about my progress. I have not finished yet what I have resolved to do this year. I am making lists and getting some of the things done, but I never finish the list. The approach thus far has been to make the list, get done what I can, and start a new list the next day. Or continue the same list. The discussion I was referring to was when someone alluded to feeling like a fraud because they have not written a book yet.
I am not a fraud. I work hard at things all the time, even if the progress is made only inside of my head. I am also working on making myself healthier, and that is a project that has no deadline. It is ongoing. Deciding what is best for me to tackle on a weekly basis is moving towards completing something. Progress is progress. No matter how it appears to anyone else.
I did a small amount of puttering. I did not do anything that is picture worthy. So the progress pics will have to wait another week. I have a few vacation days coming up in April, and I plan to use them wisely. I am hoping to catch up in the kitchen this month and be able to move on to the rest of my home. I am going to have to force the issue, with myself, if I am ever going to get it accomplished. That is why I have had to give myself a deadline. At some point, I DO have to finish the Spring Cleaning and move on to the book writing.
Writing this series is helping. I am planning and seeing what needs to be done, and I have ideas of what I will be sharing in the pictures as I progress. Tomorrow after work I have plans to work on a small section of the kitchen while making supper. As I wrote somewhere earlier today on social media, the house does not bounce itself.
This weekend I caught up with some friends, and we had a fantastic time at a local board game cafe. We hung out for the whole evening, and that included the taxi driver being pulled over by the cops for making an illegal left turn while driving us to my friend’s house. If I had a cell phone (what! she doesn’t have a cell phone! the horror!) I would have been able to join in with the Pokemon Go the rest of them played last night. I tried it, and we had fun just hanging out.
Today I spent some quality time chatting with family. Then I went to see the new Smurfs movie with my husband. It was SMURFTASTIC! So familiar, and positive, and full of all the Smurfy jokes and Smurf magic.
I worked on myself this weekend. I recharged my batteries and am ready to take on the next week. I will be working on the Spring Cleaning over the next weekend, and hopefully a little bit all week. I know it will all add up and I will get there. So no, I am not a fraud, by any standard. I am a person that is a work in progress, and I am going to keep working until I accomplish my goals.

It is Sunday. I am gearing up to do all the things I haven’t done yet this weekend that are on my weekly list. That is not to say that I have been lying around on my couch until now, either. I have been out and about this weekend, spending time with friends. That is important, too.
Friday night I was invited to celebrate a friend’s birthday, hosted by a mutual friend. I need to make sure that I eat, and that I keep it healthy. I made deviled eggs, Big Mac Salad, with regular meat and soy meat options, and I made dessert. We played board games and just dance.
This was my second time making deviled eggs. They were a hit both times, so I think it may become a potluck staple for me to bring. They are on plan. People like them. Win win!
The salad is a version of a THM recipe. It can be found easily online. The soy meat was for the vegetarian of the group, and he got the leftovers since it was his birthday celebration. The THM plan is not big on Soy products, but I wanted my friend to have the full Big Mac Salad experience. So I improvised, and everyone seemed to like the salad too.
Dessert was an adventure. I made Rainbow cake in mason jars.

Unicorn Rainbow Dip
I made Unicorn Rainbow Dip for a cake topping, and of course, added rainbow sprinkles. I probably won’t be making this cake in mason jars when I make it again. The dip was amazing, and not too sweet like icing would have been. I think it would be wonderful for cake pops. I made it the night before, and let it set in the fridge overnight. This was a quick assembly after work on Friday. It took longer to make the deviled eggs. My friends added dips and loaded potato skins and bruschetta and deep fried pickles to the table. It was a lot of food for a party of 4.
Yesterday I wanted to spend time with another couple that my husband and I are friends with. We went out for supper, and back to their place to watch some movies on Netflix. I had not seen the John Wick movie, and they all rewatched while I saw it for the first time. Now I can be ready for the newly released sequel, that we want to see as a group if we can plan it that way.
I was busy, and now I am scrambling to play catch up before Monday rolls around again. I am still working from lists. Some things get done, and other things carry forward to the next weekend. It is time to crank the tunes and get some chores done. I have a few hours to spend on that, and then it’s time to get ready for another week at the day job. Until next weekend, when I become the Weekend Warrior again. Although I was more of a warrior of the social scene this weekend, there is still some time to make progress on the chores, if I hurry! Time to Bounce the House once again!
